Xiao Nian Festival Greetings from Qian Xi
Each 23-24 of the twelfth lunar month were traditionally called as "xiao nian" in China. There is a fairy tale of this Festival.
The legend of the kitchen god was a civilian Master Zhang, he betrayaled his wife and after all the possessions exhausted, he reduced to begging. One day, he begged to his ex-wife Guo Dingxiang, he was so ashamed and dashed himself headlong against the the kitchen pot and dead. The Jade Emperor consider that Zhang has a confessional heart, so put him as king of the kitchen. He will go to the heaven to report to the Jade Emperor each 23-24 of the twelfth lunar month and then go back on the bottom of the oven six days later. The common people feel that the king must be respected. Because he is responsibile to report to the God. They will offer sweets and cover his mouth and worship the king of the kitchen to pray for the coming year of peace and wealth.
